Grace Bible Church in La Vernia, Texas, is looking for an Executive Pastor of Ministry. God is up to something special at Grace Bible Church. The church has grown close to 40% over the last few years, and more growth is coming as the area of La Vernia continues to grow.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an Executive Pastor to step into a great church to provide oversight to all the major ministries of the church by helping to lead and champion the various ministry leaders. This person will be given great latitude in the ministry approach and strategy as they help the team execute the vision the senior pastor and elders established.

Job Description

Job Overview and Objective

The Executive Pastor of Ministry Development, in partnership with the Lead Pastor, will support the mission and vision of Grace Bible Church by providing strategic integration and alignment to all of GBC’s ministries, developing and implementing effective processes for leadership and ministry development. This individual may also be part of, on a limited basis, the preaching rotation for all campuses in the GBC network.

This role will comprise of:

50% – Ministry and leader development

30% – Development and implementation of network mission and vision

20% – Supporting and growing a healthy culture

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the health and effectiveness of all ministries within the Grace Bible Church network by working closely with each ministry director to ensure that ministry specific and church network mission, vision, and priorities are accomplished.
  • Develop and shepherd ministry director staff to maximize their giftedness and leadership skills, as well as provide guidance and support for ministry strategic planning and development.
  • Oversee, develop, and implement network-wide systems of leadership development that grow the leadership skills of elders, staff, and volunteers.
  • Partner with the Senior Pastor and Elder Team to clarify and effectively communicate the vision and direction of the church and ensure all ministries are strategically aligned with that vision and direction.
  • Act as a catalyst and agent of clarity for continued vision-based ministry multiplication and expansion.
  • As part of the core staff team, participate in developing, tracking and evaluating annual ministry goals that align with the GBC mission, vision and network priorities.

Grace Staff Expectations

  • Attend staff and executive leadership meetings as scheduled.
  • Meet weekly with Lead Pastor.
  • Meet weekly/bi-weekly with Director level staff.
  • Maintain an active relationship with Jesus Christ sustained through the practice of personal spiritual disciplines.
  • Embody Christlikeness and lead with humility, character, and love.
  • Demonstrate commitment to unity and a willingness to work in a collaborative team environment.
  • Be personally engaged with GBC’s mission, vision, and strategy.
  • Support GBC’s beliefs, core values, and practices as outlined in the Doctrinal Statement.
  • Maintain annual Ministry Partner agreement.
  • Remain up to date on all activities and ministries going on at all GBC campuses to be able to disseminate information as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • Hands-on experience in building and developing teams.
  • Ideally served on staff of a multisite church.
