Discover Hope Church

For almost a century, Hope Church has been faithfully preaching the gospel and caring for its congregation and the community. In  the midst of the Great Depression (1929), Hope was born as a storefront mission in the town of Greece, New York, with a divine purpose to spread the love and compassion of God to the community. The following year, the Rochester Lutheran Mission Society purchased four lots and built a chapel, which became a place of worship for the growing number of believers at Hope. Over the next five decades, Hope expanded its physical space to accommodate its growing needs to serve the community. Eventually, Hope outgrew its initial address, and the congregation purchased land at its current location, relocating in the early 1990’s.

In 2011, Hope embraced a new ministry to serve the community by starting a food pantry, which was a literal call to feed the hungry. To meet this steadily increasing need, Hope partnered with the local Food Bank, Foodlink, NY, and the Hope Food Pantry continued to grow. Soon it became and continues to be the largest food distributor for Foodlink in a nine-county region.

Hope has continually sought God’s vision to take the next step, and in 2016, the HOPE 20/20 Vision was shared, which included a physical community center, the Center 4 Hope, to house the Food Pantry and expand its services to the community. This Center was officially opened in 2021 on the church campus and serves God by sharing the love and compassion of Jesus with the Greece community across three pillars – food, employment and financial counseling.  Prayerfully, God has brought forward a potential partner to add a fourth pillar, medical, slated to be added to our Greece campus in 2025.

Another part of the 20/20 Vision was to grow our reach through a multisite. In response to prayer, Concordia Brockport Lutheran Church approached Hope to partner in ministry. Hope Brockport is located about 20 minutes away from Hope’s main campus in Greece, New York. After working together and seeking God’s will for several years, Hope Brockport was launched on Easter Sunday 2022.  Attendance growth at our Brockport Campus was 30% in 2023.

Hope Lutheran Church gives praise to God for how He continues to steadily bless Hope in its journey to share the love of Jesus and unleash His compassion on the community it serves. We pray that God continues to use Hope Church for the glory of His name.
