Leadership transitions are crucial. A successful handoff propels an organization forward in its vision and strategies. Rocky transitions cause multitudes of ongoing issues, from which some organizations never recover. This is true for churches, for-profit businesses and non-profit organizations.

The Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability transitioned to a new president on May 1, 2020. ECFA is modeling an excellent transition process from Dan Busby to Michael Martin. There have been regular communications leading up to the day of transition. On transition day, they shared this video of Dan and Michael, as well as a note from Michael.

As Dan Busby finishes a great leadership run at ECFA, and on May 1 becomes an active President Emeritus, I want to publicly thank him for serving as my boss, mentor, champion and friend for the last nine years.

Dan is a man of integrity who loves the Lord and ECFA deeply. This sincerity and passion for ECFA’s mission have been the catalyst for ECFA’s exponential growth in size and influence under his leadership. In addition to building ECFA’s technical expertise on staff, Dan has prioritized constant innovation and a culture of service that we will carry with us long into the future.

I know I speak for the entire team here at ECFA who are grateful that Dan will continue to serve in this new President Emeritus role assisting ECFA and our members to reach new heights. Thank you and congratulations, Dan!
