Communications Director

Time Commitment: Full-time
Reports To: Programming Director

Summary

Responsible for alignment and standardization in communicating the Mission, Vision, Values, and Strategy of the church in various social media, electronic media, print, and weekend services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Act as an ambassador for CRC by positively reflecting the vision, mission, strategy, and values to those inside and outside our walls.
  • Be able to assess and advise attendees and volunteers as to how and where they can take their next steps towards God and within the ministry.
  • Oversee promotion process/serve as main promotion liaison with staff – keep tabs on promotion items in Basecamp while meeting with various ministries about their promotion plans/needs.
  • Use written content in various communication vehicles; in print, social media, web, and other electronic media.
  • Write announcements for the weekend services and weekly email.
  • Maintain upcoming events list on church website.
  • Produce ATR for front office to print for weekend services.
  • Produce Newsletter for distribution to CRC members.
  • Identify stories of life-change by working with various staff and help tell these stories (website, working with video/programming team, etc.)
  • Act as a resource to other departments to achieve consistent terminology and presentation of core principles, practices and values and to promote the feel of being one church
  • Serve as the church’s public relations representative – promote the church to the community by building relationships with local publications, broadcast news, and radio and writing press releases and media advisories where appropriate.
  • Work on a public relations plan to make the church more prominent in the community.

Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Communications or Journalism from four-year college or university; or 3 to 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals and professional journals, Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from ministry leaders, board members, and the general church population.

Math Ability

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, and percentages.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Google Applications.
