Hey Fletch … I have an excellent black and white style business resume but I’m not getting much response. After looking at the Great Resumes on XPastor, I may know why. Are churches really looking for eye-catching photos, or do they prefer white paper with black text? Also, is my lack of experience also hurting me?

Fletch—Churches are unique as the pastoral heart is coupled with the business brain. This means that a story-driven, graphically designed resume can be of great help in landing a new position.

Black and white resumes are ideal for business but not for church. Pastors and hiring teams want to see communications ability, experience and great design. You want a resume that rises to the top of the pile. A church may get 100 resumes for a position and you want yours to be in the top 3 for consideration.

As to your experience, consider the XPastor classes. We have a new live series on Communications. You may want to get XPastor certification by working through the five courses in Operations. This is a great way to demonstrate to a prospective church that you have an exceptional handle on issues.
