Union Hills Baptist Church, in Brownsboro, Texas, is looking for an Executive Pastor. This isn’t just a ministry position, it’s an invitation to shepherd a growing family of faith in East Texas. Union Hill Baptist Church sits in Brownsboro, a close-knit Henderson County community about ninety minutes southeast of Dallas, where small-town roots and genuine hospitality still define daily life.
With an average attendance of 200-250, Union Hill is large enough to offer real ministry impact and small enough that every member is known by name. Our congregation is united by a simple conviction: that real hope is found in Jesus Christ, and that hope is meant to be shared. We are committed to reaching Brownsboro and the surrounding communities with the Gospel, and to cultivating a church where every generation … longtime members and first-time guests alike … finds a genuine sense of belonging.
We’re also a church in a season of momentum, prayerfully seeking leaders who share our heart for people and our vision for what’s ahead. If you’re drawn to authentic community, Gospel-centered ministry, and the opportunity to shape the future of a healthy, growing congregation, we’d love to talk with you.
Executive Pastor Job Description
Position Details
- Employment Type: Full-time
- Reports To: Senior Pastor
- Denomination: Baptist
- Congregation Size: 200-250
- Location: Brownsboro, Texas
The Role
The Executive Pastor serves as a trusted partner to the Senior Pastor, complementing visionary leadership with operational strength. This role provides leadership across the full scope of church operations and staff development, while sharing in the pastoral care of the congregation. It translates vision into healthy systems, strong teams, and a thriving guest and discipleship pathway, and anticipates what the church will need next as it grows.
We’re looking for an experienced ministry leader with a pastor’s heart, a strategic mind, and the relational intelligence to develop people at every level of the church.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and pastor the church’s ministry staff, clarify roles and expectations, and build a healthy, collaborative staff culture.
- Provide hands-on leadership on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings, ensuring ministries are staffed and guests are well cared for.
- Own the guest experience and discipleship pathway end to end, from first-time follow-up through small groups and next-step classes.
- Provide strategic oversight to the Children’s Ministry and Student Ministry, ensuring both are healthy and aligned with the church’s direction.
- Oversee church operations, communications, HR, and financial stewardship in partnership with the Business Administrator and Senior Pastor.
- Share pastoral care responsibilities with the Senior Pastor, including preaching, counseling, crisis response, and life-event presence.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal Executive Pastor is life-giving and authentic, leading with humility and Christ-centered conviction. They’re a strategic thinker with a shepherd’s heart, equally comfortable building systems and building relationships, and they communicate with a clarity and warmth that earns trust across the whole church.
- Active, mature faith in Jesus Christ; lifestyle consistent with biblical standards for church leadership (1 Timothy 3, Titus 1).
- 5+ years of full-time ministry experience with demonstrated leadership across multiple ministry areas.
- A strong communicator and systems thinker who can build operational infrastructure without losing the relational, pastoral heart of ministry.
- Alignment with the theological convictions and ministry philosophy of Union Hill Baptist Church.
A Note on This Role
This role is central to Union Hill’s continued growth. We’re looking for someone who loves people enough to show up for them and loves the mission enough to build something that will serve this church for generations to come.
