XPastor gives a world class education in the essentials of church leadership and management. Both newbies and old pros benefit from the content and interaction with the leaders. All classes are on video. Learn from hundreds of experienced leaders—Executive Pastors, Senior Pastors, Facility Directors and COOs, and key business people. They come from a wide range of denominations and have years of ministry experience.

The audience for our classes is both paid and volunteer staff: PastorsDirectors & Church Leaders. Fletch had a great education at Dallas Seminary but went to the school of hard knocks for tactical and strategic church issues. For over ten years, people would ask, Please teach us how to lead and manage our churches. These courses will help ground you in the multi-faceted role of a church leader.

When you enroll in the free courses, the content will become available at the bottom of this page.

What I am learning

The XP position at Miracle Life Family Church of Lusaka, Zambia had been vacant for a couple of years. I came into the role without a predecessor to show me the ropes. I was a blank slate—knowing nothing about the role! I thank God for the XPastor courses. It is through these courses that I learned: 1—The key requirements, duties, and responsibilities of an XP. How our church is implementing vision and mission—and gaps in the implementation. 2—My relationship with the senior pastor and the board … not boggle them down with too much data, just key performance metrics. 3—Understand and appreciate my strengths, those of the senior pastor and how we complement each other. The courses have become the manual and guide in my role.

Finances, Staffing & Integrity

The secret to good finances is careful consideration of a wide variety of issues. Church financial issues range from cash to invoices, from expense reporting to audits, from insurance to legal issues. The material from Finances 103 & 104 are together in the videos below.

In the 18 videos from the Staffing Workshop and 19 from the Staffing Course, get tools that you need and prepare for difficult decisions that you will make. Learn about salaries, the economy, generosity, hiring, housing, HR, culture and much more.

Business Brain Integrity is the soundness of action, values driven. How do we strengthen our church’s financial integrity? How can we prepare for major risks? Where can we improve board principles and practices? Pastoral Heart Integrity is completeness, unimpaired in ministry. How can pastors improve support systems for healthy leadership? What are the warning signs of a crash and restoration after one?

The Smart Money for Church Salaries workshop includes 8 videos that give you insight on church compensation, staying legal, dealing with thorny salary issues, setting fair compensation and creating a salary grid.

Predators in the Church

From the time of Simon Magus in Acts 8, there have been Predators in the Church. Predators think differently than others. They come into your church seeking prey, not just a job or a place to volunteer. In 20 classes we cover the areas of Church Security, Child Abuse Prevention and Financial Fraud.

Boot Camp & Strategy

Whether you are a new XP, considering the role, or want to refresh your skills, Boot Camp is a place to get in shape. The target for this course are the fundamentals of being an Executive Pastor. Main aspects of the role are examined from working with the Senior Pastor, to staff to vision and implementation.

Hot trends come in Gear Up each October as we look at what trends are on the horizon. Smart leaders are making plans for the next year and utilizing information on what is coming. What do church leaders need to know? New trends are appearing across the nation. Our speakers address thousands of churches each year and see changes on the horizon.

This examines ten key strategies of ten churches. Learn the strategy of the lead pastor and the church’s spiritual DNA. We look at church and community demographics, exit interviews, styles of learning, church uniqueness and onboarding newcomers.

Communications & Facilities

This course is an area that is often overlooked. Many people think that it just happens. Others think that if it is going fine, why study it? How do you know that your communication strategy and practices are state-of-the-art? We explore the gamut of church communications. Though we live in a communications age, most pastors need huge improvement in communications!

An insurance company did some research and created a rule of thumb for total cost of building ownership. Over forty years, you will spend nearly eighty percent of the building’s total cost in maintenance and repairs. This course examines the dreams, design, working with architects, construction and maintenance.

Building & Renovation: Design-Fund-Build. A Senior Pastor says, No one can find their way from the parking lot to the worship center” and a Worship Pastor  This room is full of hot spots and quiet zones … everyone is unhappy. That these were fictional stories! Church leaders need to take the time to find experts who will avoid the common pitfalls in a building project. Have a hero story not a sob story.
