Outpouring Orlando, in Orlando, Florida, is looking for an Executive Pastor. Outpouring Orlando is a Christ-centered church whose mission is to help people Grow in Christ, Share the gospel, and Serve our community. Outpouring Orlando is located in east Orlando near the University of Central Florida (the second largest university in the U.S.) The church was planted in 2015 with five people and quickly grew to over 100 people within two years. Outpouring Orlando is a church that is primarily focused on Christ-centered discipleship that equips and prepares their people to live on mission where they live, learn, work, and play. Important to Outpouring Orlando is the heart and desire to be a multi-ethnic church that is located in a diverse community.

Outpouring Orlando is seeking an Executive Pastor that will oversee all ministry programs and the day-to-day operations of the church. In addition, the role will include the responsibility to train and equip staff and volunteers to ensure each ministry is aligned with the church’s mission, vision, and core values. Also, essential to this role is the desire to help facilitate the church’s growth through missional engagement and evangelism within the surrounding community.

The Candidate

The Executive Pastor will provide leadership and oversight to the following areas:

  • The Executive Pastor will supervise all full and part-time staff, ministry leaders, and volunteers to ensure that the culture aligns with our ministry core values. This will include quarterly training and coaching of staff and volunteers.
  • The Executive Pastor will have the responsibility of managing the ministry calendar and ensuring that all events align with the church’s mission and vision. In addition, the executive pastor will be the lead administrator of the church’s planning software.
  • The Executive Pastor will also share in some preaching duties and administering of sacraments, weddings, and funerals.
  • The Executive Pastor will work with, and directly report to, the Lead Pastor.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Must meet the qualifications listed in 1 Timothy 3:1-7.
  • Must love people.
  • Experience in Biblical teaching and preaching in a pastoral/ministry role.
  • The preferred candidate will have at least 5 years of ministry leadership experience (as an elder, pastor, or student ministry leader).
  • Bachelor’s Degree (some seminary education is preferred).
  • Must be proficient in most Microsoft Programs and willing to learn Church CRM technology.
  • A creative entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to envision and revitalize, spearheading change as needed.
  • Ability to partner and collaborate with staff and volunteers to develop goals and execute plans to achieve them.
  • Ability to train and disciple volunteer team.

A Note on Outpouring Orlando’s Policy and Governance

We are a non-denominational elder-led church that believes in a first among equals method of leadership. The elder team has final oversight over all things pertaining to doctrine, discipline, and direction for the church. The deacons and volunteer staff carry out the vision of the elder team, while contributing and collaborating in ministry philosophy and methodology as necessary.

Executive Pastor Job Description

The Ideal Candidate

  • Will have a deep love for Jesus and his people. A desire to see the kingdom grow through the faithful witness of the local church.
  • A humble collaborator that can work alongside the Lead Pastor to create and exhibit a spirit of unity and peace.
  • A consummate professional who is both administratively and relationally gifted. Will be gifted in working with a spreadsheet and spreading the gospel.
  • Clear communicator. Represents themselves and the organization well through verbal, written, and nonverbal communication.
  • A well-rounded, people-oriented leader that understands the value of continual, incremental improvement over an extended period.

General Responsibilities

  • Participate in weekly staff meetings and Sunday planning meetings.
  • Attend and/or serve at church functions as needed (prayer nights, holiday events, etc.)
  • Participate in all planning meetings with the Staff Team.
  • Participate and relationally engage in the life and ministry of the church on Sundays and throughout the week.

Executive Responsibilities

Help to shape church and staff culture through healthy presence and effective communication that casts vision, creates unity, and advances the mission.

  • Participate in conversations with Lead Pastor regarding overall staffing and ministry strategies.
  • Conduct and lead weekly Sunday planning meetings.
  • Consult, assist, and troubleshoot with other staff and volunteers regarding their ministries.
  • As needed, proactively speak into potential weak spots or areas of potential improvement to ensure alignment, effectiveness, and strategic development.

Provide leadership and oversight to direct reports.

  • Worship Pastor (weekly check-in)
  • Children’s Ministry Director (weekly check-in)
  • Life Groups Director (weekly check-in)
  • Student Pastor (weekly check-in)

Manages the operations of the church.

  • HR: payroll; benefits; hiring and firing; review and evaluation; policies and procedures.
  • Facility: leases, operations, equipment, maintenance, and capital improvements.
  • Security Team: training; logistics; compliance.
  • Ensure that the emergency evacuation plan is up-to-date and clearly communicated.
  • Oversight of church-wide communication (email, website, social media, etc.)
  • Concisely: ensure the “business of the church” is executed well to facilitate and support the ministry of the church.

Manages finances and develops stewardship and generosity.

  • Helps to set financial goals in collaboration with the Lead Pastor.
  • Create and implement strategy for donor relations.
  • Review monthly expenses and meet with staff as needed to evaluate spending.
  • Provide leadership to special projects such as: fundraising, church planting campaigns, etc.)
  • Collaborate with Lead Pastor to create the annual budget.

Pastoral Responsibilities

  • Provide a visible and accessible leadership presence during weekend services.
  • Preach 10-12 times per year and serve in other roles as needed, i.e., facilitate the Lord’s Table, Call to Worship, Prayer, Announcements.
  • Conduct and teach leadership development with volunteers.
  • Provide specialized pastoral care when appropriate (funerals, hospital visits, weddings, premarital counseling, etc.)

  • Leaders and volunteers are motivated and inspired to live into the mission of Outpouring Orlando.
  • The church as an organization is well-led and well-managed, freeing pastors to focus more on ministry to people than on organizational challenges.
  • All systems and structures of Outpouring Orlando are working well and consistently refined for optimal effectiveness.

Expectations and Compensation

  • Hours: 40-50 per week
  • Salary: Determined based on education and previous ministry experience.
  • Benefits: 15 vacation days per year (not including major holidays); 12 sick days per year, $1,500 expense account; $3,000 Health/Medical Allowance
