Hey Fletch … I’m beginning to write the script for my worship reel. What do you think are the most important things to hit on in that video. What subjects do churches and employers need/want to hear me share about?

DRF—A resume for a worship leader should include “your reel.” That is a collection of videos that show you in action. I would suggest that you include three things:

  1. Tell the top two to four things that you do best in leading a worship service. This isn’t bragging, you are sharing the gifts that God has given you. What is that special “add” that you bring to the worship services?
  2. Talk about your teamwork and how you develop others. With an unlimited budget, you could hire many team members. I don’t know of any churches with limitless finances. Every church has a budget. Share how you have developed a team of volunteers. How have you empowered others? How have they owned the vision and used their gifts?
  3. Share the style of worship that you bring. You can use the standard words, such as “contemporary, traditional or blended.” You can develop your own definitions. What you want to do is convey how you mix songs, scripture and possibly liturgy in the worship service.

When I review the resume and reel of a worship leader, these are some of the most important things that I look for.

Response: This is great, thanks!
