Hey Fletch … How long do you suggest keeping video footage from church cameras?
DRF—As you are in the process of getting bids on surveillance cameras (CCTV), you are asking a million dollar question. The question is vital if you have an incident at your church. For my next book, Predators in the Church, I learned of a church that kept the recordings for 90 days. Unfortunately, they had a child molester in their ministry and the recordings showed his activity.
I don’t have an answer on how long to keep video. It is probably going to be a function of number of cameras and cost of storage. Your competitive bids should help you see what you can afford to keep and for how long. I would suggest that you keep as many days as you can afford.
