Whether your strengths in the XP role are a business brain or  pastoral heart, it is essential to speak the language of pastors and ministry volunteers. Pastors work in churches because they feel called by God and volunteers serve because they desire to meaningfully invest their time. Neither group is motivated by the traditional lures of business. How will you lead, encourage and mentor them? How will you lead meetings that encompass a wide range of ministries, take on different perspectives and have challenging spiritual dynamics? How will you resolve spiritual and not-so-spiritual conflict?

Key Questions to Ask Staff

What do you need from me? How can I best serve you? What level of information do you want? What level of information do you need? What do I do that bugs you? When should I shut up and listen? When should I stop listening and take charge? How are we doing spiritually? Do we pray enough? How can we go deeper with God in our church?
