On the internet, the news media makes money by selling advertisements. CBS doesn’t make money when you read CNN. A news site makes money when you see/click on ads on their site.

This desire for viewers can taint stories into what is called “yellow journalism … scandal-mongering or sensationalism.”

The sensational articles are the news media equivalent of fast food. They seemingly taste good but have no nutritional value.

Skip the fast food news articles. Go for articles of substance.
