National XP-Day

A time to talk about current XP issues
and the future of the XP-SP role

logo

September 15, 2008

Pasadena
California

Only a few times a year do we have XP-Days.
And, they are quite popular.
Space is limited to a maximum of 20 people, so enroll today.

David's home-area of Sunny California … here we come!

... don't say we didn't warn you if it gets full. Enroll here. Pay here.

For this one-day event in Pasadena, some great people and issues! You may want to bring your family with you. We will continue the "classic" discussion about "Best and Worst Case Leadership Scenarios." We will have a senior pastor interview at lunch. There is plenty of open agenda time in the afternoon. The final speaker is you, the XP who brings questions, thoughts and ideas!

Our XP-Days bring together leaders to talk about relevant issues. We don't examine monotonous programs or extol the size of our churches. We hone our skills through life-on-life discussion.

By drawing ministers from around your region and the nation, National XP-Days challenge cultural perspectives and promote the best practices of church leadership. National XP-Days are led by Dr. Fletcher.

National XP-Days are limited to 20 people to foster close discussion on pertinent topics. Authentic interaction is key. Don't bring pride about the size of your church or pretense in the extent of your ministry.

Our schedule follows the format of major presentations on core issues, followed by large group discussion and small group interaction. Several sessions are left open-ended, enabling each participant to bring questions for the group to examine.

Introductions and setting the course for the day

For each hour-long session, we will have an XP share from an area of expertise for 20 to 30 minutes. This will be followed by 30 to 40 minutes of discussion. This is a "safe place" to share success and struggles. Active participation in discussion is a must.

schuhThe XP as Mentor with Warren Schuh

We all have an idea that the XP somehow mentors the staff. But, what are you really doing to mentor staff? We will have a presentation on being a mentor, then have small and large group discussion.

  • Who does what in your church?
  • What belongs to the XP and what to the SP?
  • How are you resolving the creative tension?

How are you at ... evaluating job descriptions, exhorting staff, hiring and terminating staff, mentoring key staff, running staff meeting and retreats, supervising staff and working as the Chief of Staff.

Check out the articles that Warren has written for XPastor:

The XP as Catalyst

The Catalyst function invigorates existing ministry or begins new ones. The Catalyst empowers members to be involved in ministry, often asking: "Who is on the bus and who is in the right seat?"

How are your at ... starting new ministries, challenging people to improve, creating a strategic plan, empowering members to be involved, encouraging folks to volunteer, envisioning future ministry, equipping members for ministry, lighting fires to instigate change, motivating people to get involved, networking ministries to enhance effectiveness.

generisThanks to our friends at Generis Partners. True giving is a deeply transformative act. At Generis, we believe it's less about raising capital and more about raising the spiritual consciousness of people. It's about meeting churches where they are and helping them achieve their own true vision according to their unique culture. Whether that entails a video venue, multi-campus site, or raising a daunting amount of capital, Generis consultants are ready to share the Leadership's risk—because they understand it.
