A Growing Church within a Growing Community is Seeking an Experienced, Highly Qualified Executive Pastor to Lead its Senior Staff

Traditional and Contemporary Services with Attendance in 2500 Range

Reports to a Dynamic, Evangelistic Senior Pastor

 

Description of Position

Purpose

Manage the ministerial, administrative, and educational staff to effectively lead and motivate them toward the fulfillment of the church’s mission. Coordinates and gives overall management to the implementation of the church program. Working under the direction of the Senior Pastor and general guidance of the Church Governing Body seeks to fulfill the church vision.

Accountability

Under the guidance of the Church Governing Body while reporting directly to the Senior Pastor on a day to day basis.

Management of Church Ministerial, Administrative, and Educational Staff (Mark 10: 42-45; Rom. 12:8; I Thess. 5:12)

  1. Works closely with the Senior Pastor to harmonize with him, the actions of the staff toward the accomplishment of the vision, mission, goals and strategy of the church.
  2. Manages the senior ministerial, administrative and educational staff to provide effective direction including: assessment, accountability, goal setting, performance evaluation, shepherding, conflict resolution, and if necessary, discipline.
  3. Meets regularly with the staff to provide leadership, inspiration, direction and encouragement.
  4. In conjunction with the staff develops new programs, establishes goals, and maximizes the effectiveness of present programs.
  5. Builds solid staff performance by:
    • Developing written personnel policies and procedures
    • Developing job descriptions
    • Participating in the recruitment and hiring of staff and other important personnel
    • Evaluating staffing structure and proposing adjustments as the need arises
    • Conducts annual performance evaluation of staff and recommends pay adjustments
    • Recommends salary and benefit changes for all church employees under his or her direction.
  6. Develops and maintains clear and effective communication with and within his staff and departments, and with church employees in general, the congregation, the Church Governing Body and the Senior Pastor. Attends meetings of the Church Governing Body and communicates appropriate information to the staff.
  7. Under the directions of the Church Governing Body and Senior Pastor, creates, implements and monitors effective budget preparation and budget controls within the church.
  8. Coordinates the development and maintenance of the church calendar.
  9. Coordinates with the Senior Pastor and Church Governing Body in representing the church to the press and media.
