WOW – what a great opportunity! One of our newest church clients in the Detroit, MI is less than 10 years old and is already running close to 2000 on the weekends. What will help get them to the next level? YOU! This church is looking to add a Senior Associate Pastor (XP/COO) to the team. The Senior (and founding) Pastor is incredible – he is extremely relevant and gifted – he needs a partner in ministry and this could be YOU.
This is a very diverse, non-denominational church that doesn’t MAJOR on the MINORS. In other words, they don’t get hung up on formality, bureaucracy, and those fundamentalist issues the hinder the GOSPEL being shared! Instead, they show, as Christ does, grace and acceptance to all who come.
The main responsibilities will be focusing on organizational strategy and development. This will include analysis of current ministries, strategic staffing and positioning, so the vision is executed. This is a lean staff which is ready to grow – they just need the right leader at the helm.
The right candidate will be evangelistic and have a desire to see the unchurched/dechurched united with Christ through relevant ministry. He or she will also be passionate about Community Life (discipleship, spiritual depth).

POSITION TITLE: Senior Associate Pastor (Executive Pastor)
LOCATION: Walled Lake (Detroit), MI
SALARY RANGE: COMMENSURATE WITH EXPERIENCE
JOB DESCRIPTION / DUTIES:
- Oversee the day to day operations of the church staff
- Develop strategic plans to execute the church’s vision
- Proactively handle potential issues that may arise
- A position the “propels” the church and vision forward instead of one that “reacts” to problems after they arise
- Create an strategic staffing plan the corresponds with the mission of the church
- Establish polices, procedures, and best practices for operations, HR, finance and accounting, security, etc. respective of a church of this size
- Hire/fire/manage key pastoral/operational staff
- Community Life (discipleship./groups)
- Wednesday Night Believers Service
- Pastoral Care
- Next Gen ministries (Children/Students)
- Create and implement a performance appraisal system for staff
- Develop ministry (career) pathing, mentoring relationships, and other “staff development and retention” plans
- Be a “Pastor” to the staff and attenders
- Be available for Pastoral duties – weddings, funerals, visitation, etc.
- Any other duties/responsibilities as directed by the Senior Pastor
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelors Degree
- At least 5 years senior staff experience in a church of at 1000 or more in weekly attendance
- At least 3 years experience managing a staff of 4+ full-time pastoral staff
- To include hiring/firing/development/etc.
- Desire to serve in Michigan (Detroit)
- A SUCCESSFUL track record of the following:
- Leading pastoral and lay leaders
- Developing leaders
- Effective communication with all levels – STRONG INTERPERSONAL SKILLS ARE A MUST
- Strategic and critical thinking
- Problem solving
