Full-Time Children's Minister
Seminary Degree Required
The Children's Minister is responsible to oversee all Northwest Bible
Church's ministry and activities for 1st through 6th grade children,
ensuring a welcoming environment, God-centered, creative, safe, vision
driven, Lead kids to Christ and Christ exalting ministry to children
and parents, "passionately pursuing Him through Worship, Instruction,
Service, Evangelism and developing Relationships."
Develop, encourage and coach a team of lay leaders for each ministry
area 1-6. Lead, and oversee proper management, safety and care of
dedicated Elementary Ministry space and equipment. Oversee the
recruitment, training of new leaders required for all Children's
ministries at NBC.
This involves the following Ministry priorities:
- Sunday Morning Spotlight Worship grades 1-4
- Spotlight worship currently meets during the 9:30 a.m.
worship hour. This ministry hour program is filled with
age-appropriate music, creative drama and skits, a bible lesson
and Small group time. The Children's Minister is responsible to
be the lead minister and coordinator during this time. We are
currently serving 90 children/Sunday.
- Sunday Morning Spotlight Small Groups grades 1-4
- Spotlight Small Groups currently meets at 8:30 a.m. and
11:15a.m. This ministry hour is designed to help students
learn and practice community. Spotlight small groups help
students discover the essentials of community life; Worship,
prayer, study, care for one another and service.
- Ministry to 5th & 6th graders, Loop 56
- Loop 56 currently meets during the 9:30 a.m. worship hour.
The vision of loop 56 prepares students to own the Christian
faith by equipping students through the teaching biblical
doctrines. Building community through small group ministry,
special activities and Service to others. The Children's
Minister is responsible in leading this ministry setting
direction, expectations working with the 5th & 6th grade intern
to ensure the vision of the ministry is being executed. We are
currently serving 45 children/Sunday.
- Spotlight Live
- This Wednesday Night Ministry faith development program for
grades 1 through 6th grade will need the Children's Minister to
provide administrative oversight, coaching and facilitating the
adult volunteers in ministry to their respective areas. We are
currently serving over 40 children/Wednesday.
Equip Believers (30%)
- Recruit and interview, or oversee the interviewing of, all new
lay staff candidates, ensuring appropriate background checks and
compliance with the procedures of the Children's Ministry.
- Recruit and train leaders; help plan & lead Teacher Training.
Plan and lead volunteer leadership monthly meetings.
- Shepherd lead teachers by developing relations, encouragement by
phone, e-mails, gifts and cards and participation in teacher
appreciation activities.
- Attend monthly parent committee meeting.
- Lead volunteers to shepherd Spotlight 1-4th & Loop 56 children.
Lead Programs (60%)
- Evaluating-organize and evaluate teaching curriculum for 1st-4th
Spotlight Small groups.
- Evaluating-organize and evaluate teaching curriculum for 5th-6th
grade.
- Leading-Set the direction for the 5th & 6th grade ministry
intern. Set ministry expectations and goals for 5th & 6th grade
intern that is commensurate with NBC values. Ensure special events
and outreach activities are programmed. Collaborate with Jr. High
Minister to ensure 5th & 6th graders are being prepared for Jr. High
Ministry.
- Scheduling-ensure that all classes have prepared small group
leaders each week.
- Assessing-visit 1st-4th Spotlight Small groups to review
effectiveness.
- Teaching-teach during spotlight Worship (large group time) to
impact life change leading kids to Christ and developing spiritual
champions through small group ministry
- Organizing-organize special programs and events with the help of
5th & 6th grade intern.
- Counseling-counsel 1st-6th graders who have trusted Christ and
would like to be baptized.
- Team participation-participate in Spotlight LIVE program
(Wednesday night). Participate in special events such as Vacation
Bible School and Fall Fun Festival.
- Budgeting-Oversee, maintain balance and analyze children's
budget as it relates to the ministry areas of Worship, Instruction,
Service, Evangelism and Building relationships.
- Creativity-Create a ministry area that creates excitement, high
energy, a love for God's word, and a vehicle for communicating truth
through drama, skits and multimedia.
Ministerial Issues (10%)
- Perform weddings, funerals, baptisms, communion, etc.
- Participate in Staff and Key Leader Meetings.
- Participate in Family Ministry Meetings
- Participate in ministry enrichment opportunities.
- Perform on-call duties twice a month.
