Church History and Core Values
Christ Church was formed in 1990. In 1997 it merged with a local Evangelical Covenant church to form the current Christ Church, Evangelical Covenant. In 2000 the church moved into its new facility, which it soon outgrew. We are currently exploring various options to expand our facilities.
We offer four worship services on Sunday morning (including two concurrently at different sites) a fifth on Sunday evening, and a sixth mid-week prayer and healing service. We have active ministries in place for people of all ages.
The church, especially the Sunday evening service (called “Sanctuary”) attracts many young adults and students from surrounding colleges and universities, and incorporates many of the “ancient-future elements in its worship and teaching experiences.
Christ Church has a strong missional focus, with an active outreach into the community with the whole Gospel, meeting both physical and spiritual needs of the community. We seek to be a “Compassionate Christian Community.”
Our location in East Greenwich, Rhode Island, places us within minutes of the ocean and its beaches. A variety of cultural and educational opportunities are nearby.
