Children of The Nations, an international movement of people that seeks to raise orphaned and destitute children into leaders who will transform their nations, is seeking a Chief Operating Officer. Headquartered in the Silverdale, Washington, COTN partners with individuals and organizations in the US and around the world and works alongside in-country staff, empowering them to effect change in their own countries.
The Chief Operating Officer will assist and support the International/USA President in the management and mobilization of this movement by overseeing the direction and day-to-day operations of Children Of The Nations USA (COTN USA). This position will require a firm grasp of the Mission, Vision strategies and values of COTN USA. The COO will lead, manage and minister to the COTN USA staff. The COO will ensure that the systems, practices and policies of COTN USA effectively support the overall Vision, Mission and objectives of COTN International.
The ideal candidate will
- Have a desire to minister to destitute and orphaned children
- Know how to lead from the second chair
- Have ten plus years of progressive management experience in a mission organization, professional setting, or executive pastor role
- Have experience managing a multi-department staff
- Have led teams successfully in implementing strategy
- Be able to lead, mentor and minister to staff
- Know how to develop and empower others
- Understand sound non-profit accounting procedures
- Be able develop and administer budgets
- Understand HR processes and policies
- Desire to work in a mission based environment
- Oversee spiritual well-being of staff
- Have some understanding of missionary support raising
- Agree with COTN statement of faith
Primary Duties
- Participate with the President in developing a vision and strategic plan to guide the organization.
- Lead the operational planning and implementation process for COTN USA’s short and long range vision and strategy
- Develop and oversee an operational plan that ensures that the operation of COTN USA meets the expectation of its donors, clients and Board
- Foster a positive and healthy work environment
- Oversee the implementation of sound human resources policies and practices
- Represent COTN at Community activities to enhance the organizations community profile
- Work with the staff and the CEO/President and Board to secure adequate funding for the operation of the organization
- Establish good working relationships and collaborative arrangements with community groups, donors, politicians, and other organizations to help achieve the goals of the COTN
