What I am learning in the courses
The XP position at Miracle Life Family Church of Lusaka, Zambia had been vacant for a couple of years. I came into the role without a predecessor to show me the ropes. I was a blank slate—knowing nothing about the role! I thank God for the XPastor courses. It is through these courses that I learned:
- The key requirements, duties, and responsibilities of an XP. How our church is implementing vision and mission—and gaps in the implementation.
- My relationship with the senior pastor and the board … not boggle them down with too much data, just key performance metrics.
- Understand and appreciate my strengths, those of the senior pastor and how we complement each other.
The courses have become the manual and guide in my role.

Fletch had a great education at Dallas Seminary but went to “the school of hard knocks” for tactical and strategic church issues. For over ten years, people would ask him, “David, will you please teach us how to lead and manage our churches?”

Wow. I never learned this in seminary or business school!
A great session today with Dan Reiland. It was very timely as we are planning to implement reviews in the next year. There were some great tips and insights shared today.
I need to miss today’s class on Staffing. Ironically that is due to a personnel team meeting to discuss the termination of our student pastor. I will be sure to watch the recorded session this week. Thank you for these great courses. I’m in my first XP position and am soaking up the knowledge like a sponge.
I wanted to say thank you again for the first level of classes. As I’ve mentioned to you before, it was God’s perfect timing for me to participate in this course—exactly the type of training and exposure to so many tremendous leaders that I need at this stage in my ministry.
