Nathan has been serving as the XPastor of Liberty Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma for the last 5 years. For the previous 8 years, he was the Senior Pastor of the Avondale Baptist Church in Kansas City, Missouri. He also has served as an Associate Pastor and Student Pastor.
He brings a wide range of pastoral experience to Executive Pastors and is able to bring a unique perspective to issues that arise between Executive Pastors and Senior Pastors. He has been married to Dianne for 20 years and they have two teenage boys William (16) and Connor (14). As a family, they enjoy using their home as the hub of the neighborhood activity for skateboarding, basketball, July 4th fireworks, and cookouts.
Nathan's educational journey includes a Bachelor of Science Degree in Organizational Administration from Oklahoma State University, a Master of Divinity Degree with Biblical Languages from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry Degree from Dallas Theological Seminary.
In addition to his full time ministry at Liberty Church, he is the founder of two organizations that serve as a vehicle for his leadership training to others outside the church. The Pink Strategies Institute is dedicated to providing leadership resources to women with Mary Kay Cosmetics and the Lead Self-Lead Others Foundation provides leadership training and resources to both corporate and non-profit organizations. He has published two leadership courses entitled My Vision and The Power of Self Leadership.
The Journal Record of Oklahoma City writes about Nathan: "Three years ago Nathan Baxter's wife, Dianne, asked him to mentor a handful of her friends on leadership and business. Enamored by the idea, the certified Birkman International consultant and executive pastor of Broken Arrow's Liberty Church started a series of informal lessons backed by e-mailed assignments and other homework. To his surprise, the four ladies started forwarding those e- mails to friends, who forwarded the messages on to others. Seeing and fielding growing interest, Baxter created a regular curriculum for the women leadership training and mentoring program he organized as Pink Strategies.com. This joined with a similar program to coach ministers, called XPastor.org. Doubled clientele led the one-man organization to establish two audio courses this year for Pink Strategies while leading conferences and workshops in Florida, Texas, Georgia and California. A third course will get its start next month."
In 2008, he certified four coaches who now assist him in providing leadership development for leaders. He plans to continue to expand his team so that he can meet the demand for his resources to allow him to remain involved in his work in the local church. Dr. Baxter is also a certified consultant with Birkman International and Servant-Shepherd Leadership. He also serves on the board of the YourOneDegree ministry which is dedicated to helping men arrange their lives around their unique purpose or better, their one degree of impact.
His hobbies include cooking outdoors, working on the Double R Cross Ranch, writing, and creating new personal development tools. Websites: www.libertytulsa.org, www.pinkstrategies.com, www.leadselfleadothers.com, www.youronedegree.com and www.doublercross.com.
